The 3-day AM&AA Winter Conference, (www.amaaonline.org)  where V-Rooms Virtual Data Rooms was a key sponsor,  wrapped up on Friday, 1/15/2010 to a round of applause which indicated its success.  According to staff personnel, this was the largest attended conference to date.

I believe that the success was a result of a program that had an active mixture of educational sessions, in addition to generous time for deal networking between Private Equity firms and M&A Intermediaries.  The first day was focused on educational/informative presentations and panel discussions on topics including “What you need to know to keep the banks from saying NO”;”Strategic M&A – Where we’ve been and the outlook for 2010”; “M&A Tools Selection (including V-Rooms Virtual Data Rooms)” and a wrap-up panel of former business owners sharing their stories of the value of advisors and M&A Intermediaries.

The last day was devoted to Networking and Deal Making.  After a general session in the morning, where hundreds of PE investors, managers and bankers talked shop, the afternoon concluded with a Deal Bash where M&A Intermediaries pitched opportunities to the investors.

The general consensus is that 2010 has definitely started with a heightened level of deal activity.  A lot of the Private Equity firms have kept their “powder dry” during the past year are now looking for strategic additions to their portfolio. 

As a footnote:  The conference was held at the new ARIA Resort in Las Vegas (www.arialasvegas.com) , which has been open for only 4 weeks.  Whenever you have an opportunity, you must check it out…….. Absolutely Fabulous.
