Have you had issues recently with your Adobe PDF Converter? After one of my more recent automatic updates, I ran into problems converting word documents to pdfs via the adobe acrobat 8 printer, which comes with Vista.
Since we recommend uploading all your data room files in PDF format, this minor glitch can turn something very simple into a very difficult and annoying process. I’d like to share the solution I found:
# Open the Control Panel, select Printers
# Click Add a Printer
# Click Add a local printer
# Select Use an existing port (should be preselected), change the port to “Desktop \*.pdf (Adobe PDF Port), then click Next
# On the next page, click Have Disk…
# Click Browse and browse to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF (or wherever you have Acrobat installed), click OK.
# It should now show a series of “Adobe PDF Converter” entries. Select the first one and click Next
# Change the printer name if desired, uncheck the box to use it as a default printer, click Next
# Do not print a test page, click Finish
# Find your new printer in Printers. Right click on it and select Properties, Advanced
# Click “Print directly to the printer”, click OK
This fixed my problem and I hope it helps you as well.
Update 5/28/2010: We have now added a calendar to our Homepage (communications tools) Feature. This tool comes with our Diamond and Platinum packages. If you do not have one of these packages, please contact our support team to find out how to add these tools to your data room.

Well, one very clever client spoke up and asked “how do I add a calendar to my V-Room?”
Like many of you, I am a busy person, juggling various projects both professionally and personally. I’d like to say I’m a natural multi-tasker… but, I struggle to cook spaghetti, sauce and rolls and have it all ready for the dinner table at the same time. Am I alone in this dilemma? Fortunately, I manage the appearance of togetherness and punctuality by the grace of my calendar. Whether it is on paper, on my phone or online, keeping track of appointments and due dates is far easier when I can see them on a calendar. I am a visual person, as are many others.
So because we strive to assist our clients and seeing this as a possibly larger need, as well as satisfying my need to solve a puzzle, I found a way to add your very own, customizable calendar to your virtual data room. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3! (more…)
